Happy Easter!

As of April, we are reducing the price for real-time PCR for subtyping European swine influenza A viruses by 30%!

The real-time multiplex PCR is used for the typing of influenza A virus positive samples from pigs.
The method was developed at the Friedrich-Löffler-Institut (FLI) and is suitable for identifying viruses with the haemagglutinins H1 and H3 and the neuraminidase types N1 and N2 of avian, human and pandemic origin, which currently also play a role as re-assortants in the pig population.
After an initial investigation in the general influenza -A virus PCR, all those samples can be typed whose ct values are less than or equal to 30. Nasal swabs, rinsing fluids from the respiratory tract and saliva, and oral fluid samples are particularly suitable as testing material. Continuous monitoring of the current influenza status of pig farms is an important component of health monitoring and is strongly recommended, especially in view of the high antigenic variability of influenza viruses.
The information obtained in this way serves to properly assess the situation on the farm and helps to prepare the use of herd vaccination.

Serotyping and Pathotyping of Glaesserella (Haemophilus) parasuis

IVD GmbH offers serotyping (multiplex-PCR) and pathotyping (vta-LS-PCR) of Glaesserella parasuis (Gps) isolates.

In a current study on German Gps isolates from 2012-2019, the suitability of the two methods for determining the serotype resp. for classifying virulent and non-virulent isolates was confirmed.

We are in the process of updating our diagnostics

Dear colleagues!
We are in the process of updating our diagnostics.
At the moment this applies to the diagnostics of Brachyspira hyodysenteriae, which we now analyse
by real-time PCR.
But shortly we will be offering the Lawsonia intracellularis PCR only as a real-time PCR, in order to
provide you an assessment of your samples that is either relatively (Ct value) or absolutely
quantitative by qPCR.
In this context we will offer Brachyspira pilosicoli diagnostics only within the scope of Brachyspira
spec.
PCR (detection of Brachyspira spec., B. pilosicoli, B. hampsonii clade I + II, B. innocens, B.
intermedia, B. murdochii
and B. suanatina) or the Brachyspira differentiation PCR (detection of
Brachyspira species, B. pilosicoli, B. hampsonii clade I + II, B. innocens, B. intermedia, B. murdochii and
B. suanatina
by multiplex assay and B. hyodysenteriae by real-time PCR).

Furthermore, we have updated our Rotavirus PCR, which now detects both Rotavirus group A and
Rotavirus group C.

We have also made the corresponding changes in our swine diagnostics submission form and
recommend that you use this updated form with all future examination requests.

Lastly, we regret to inform you that we have also had to adjust our prices in accordance with overall
cost trends. These new prices go into effect as of 1 January 2018.
